Hello, my name is Clarissa Tossin, and I am here to talk about my exhibition, Falling From Earth.
Vulnerably Human is a silicon cast of a space suit used in Hollywood productions. I mixed meteorite powder, pieces of bark, and soil, and other organic materials in the mix, because I wanted to convey this hybrid between synthetic materials, which silicon is, and organic materials, which all the bark and soil from earth are. I really wanted to create this connection between the life that we have on earth and other celestial bodies across the universe. But it's still trying to keep a certain outline of the human body altered enough in which we don't fully recognize all the details.
So it was important for me to have a certain kind of human presence in the show, even though it comes in this altered and very fragile way. So Vulnerably Human is in this exhibition to point to the vulnerability of all living organisms on earth, as we continue to extract resources from this planet without allowing time for this ecosystem to replenish.
We as humanity are starting to plan how to potentially inflict the same contradictory processes in other celestial bodies. Specifically the Moon, which we'll see in other works in the show, how NASA and other private companies already have very specific plans on how to utilize the resources found there.

Hola. Mi nombre es Clarissa Tossin y estoy aquí para hablar sobre mi exposición Falling from Earth (Cayendo desde la Tierra).
Humano Vulnerable (Vulnerable Human) es un molde de silicona del traje espacial utilizado en la producción de Hollywood. Mezclé pedazos de polvo de corteza y tierra y otros materiales orgánicos en el trabajo porque quería transmitir el híbrido entre los materiales sintéticos que es la silicona y los materiales orgánicos que son toda la tierra barata de la Tierra. Tenía muchas ganas de crear la conexión entre las vidas que tenemos en la Tierra y otros cuerpos celestes en todo el Universo, tratando de mantener alterado un cierto contorno del cuerpo humano y en el que no reconocemos completamente todos los detalles.
