In recognition of Women’s History Month, MCA Denver Marketing & Community Specialist Tai Bickham sat down with Nikki Swarn, General Manager of local radio stations KUVO Jazz and THE DROP for the next installment of our Hues of Heritage series, spotlighting those within our community who create, educate, motivate, and encourage exploration.
Jeff Page is a multidisciplinary visual artist born and raised in Denver. Page describes his work as DIY, handmade, and funny. His piece “THROAT CHAQRA THERAPY'', included in the Breakthroughs exhibition at MCA Denver explores the theme of shame, a universal human experience, and was inspired by a connection he discovered between a thyroid cancer diagnosis he received 10 years ago and being bullied as a kid for the way he talked. In this interview, Page explains how he uses clichéd, and mainstream gay culture terms to create a tool for therapy that subverts the shame he experienced as a youth to empower his own and hopefully others’ healing process.
