Bio: Arthur Jafa was born in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1960. His work has been exhibited at venues around the world including the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.; the LUMA Foundation, Arles, France; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit, and the Serpentine Gallery, London, among many others. He is also well known for his work as a cinematographer on films such as “Daughters of the Dust” (1991), “Crooklyn” (1994), and “Eyes Wide Shut” (1999). He is represented by Gavin Brown’s enterprise. He lives and works in Los Angeles.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is limited. The garage directly across 15th street is $5 after 4pm. Please don't drive if you plan on drinking. 

What if I'm really really thirsty before the event?

We have happy hour up in the cafe from 5–7PM so we recommend you grab a drink before the talk begins

Can I check out the galleries and cafe after the talk?

Unfortunately, the galleries will close at 7pm when the talk begins. The good news is the talk will take place in the cafe, so no need to chug your beverage.
