About the Artist

Tomashi Jackson (born 1980 in Houston, Texas) was raised in Los Angeles, California. She received her MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale School of Art in 2016, her Master of Science in Art, Culture and Technology from the MIT School of Architecture and Planning in 2012, and her BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 2010. Jackson's work has been included in recent solo exhibitions at the Parrish Art Museum, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, and the Wexner Center for the Arts. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions including the Off the Record at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (2021), the 2021 Texas Biennial: A New Landscape, A Possible Horizon, the 2019 Whitney Biennial, Hinge Pictures: Eight Women Artists Occupy the Third Dimension (2019) at Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans and In the Abstract at MASS MoCA (2017). Jackson's artworks are in numerous museum collections including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Jackson lives and works in Cambridge, MA, and New York City.

About the Curator

Miranda Lash is the Ellen Bruss Senior Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Susan Brennan co-Artistic Director of international art triennial Prospect.6 in New Orleans. Lash has organized numerous museum exhibitions including Clarissa Tossin: Falling from EarthEamon Ore-Giron: Competing with Lighting/ Rivalizando con el relampágoJason Moran: Bathing the Room with Blues; Keltie Ferris: *O*P*E*N*; the traveling retrospective Mel Chin: Rematch; Camille Henrot: Cities of Ys; and Rashaad Newsome: King of Arms. In 2016 Lash and Trevor Schoonmaker co-organized the acclaimed exhibition Southern Accent: Seeking the American South in Contemporary Art. From 2008 to 2014 Lash was the founding curator of modern and contemporary art at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Her upcoming project Tomashi Jackson: The Poetics of Relation will present a major museum survey and monograph of Jackson's work in 2023.

Lash currently serves on the board of the Joan Mitchell Foundation and is a 2022 Fellow with the Center for Curatorial Leadership. She has been a Clark fellow at the Clark Art Institute, an ARCAthens curatorial fellow, a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, and a keynote lecturer for Independent Curator International's annual "Curator's Perspective" series. She holds a BA with honors from Harvard University in the History of Art and Architecture and an MA from Williams College from the Graduate Program in the History of Art.
