Garageband Music Series: Kid Astronaut & The Nebula
This Friday night, our Garageband series welcomes performances by Kid Astronaut & The Nebula and Machu Linea ft. Rare Byrd$. The music series takes place on the 5th floor of the parking garage across the street from the museum. The future's looking brighter knowing that we can safely offer in-person performances and, give you something to groove to online in the comfort of your home! It’s time to reclaim Friday nights!
Who is Kid Astronaut & The Nebula? Have you ever played in a garage before? What about a parking garage?
Kid Astronaut & The Nebula are a time and dimension traveling band performing shows throughout the galaxy with the mission of creating positive sonic energy that will raise the vibration of the universe forever. This will be our first time playing in a garage but we’re looking forward to it just like any other show.
Where did the name, Kid Astronaut & The Nebula come from?
We were named The Nebula by a 1,000,000 year old android named Nine. It’s a long story though I’ll tell you all about it later.
How long have you been part of the Denver music scene?
We crash landed in this dimension back in the year 2015. Our ship fell somewhere in the woods of Sedalia CO where we proceeded to make our way into Denver. The community welcomed us with open arms but of course we didn’t tell many people we were from another dimension.
What’s your sound like? Describe in terms of if Kid Astronaut & The Nebula was an ice cream flavor.
Well, my favorite ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream (Chocolate Fudge Brownie + Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Gobs mixed with Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream) the result is flavorful, surprising and addictive. Like us, bro!!!
What’s your experience been of Denver’s music scene?
We love the Denver music scene. There are so many talented artists here making the wheels of the city turn and we’re just blessed to take part in that.
How have you found ways to stay creative in your music during COVID?
We’ve been really exploring the internet and how we can make an impact on there. In addition, we’ve been writing new music and scripts! There’s been lots of creativity on our end. Even if we weren’t able to play many shows we stayed busy.
If you're permitting yourself at this point to get/feel excited about anything for the year ahead, what is it and why?
Well, I’m always excited about the future. The ability to create comes from the ability to imagine so we’re imagining one day being able to play shows on earth again in a major capacity soon. Luckily there’s no covid in Outerspace so we spend a lot of time space-traveling but happy to be home for a bit for a show in our favorite city.
