All visitors will be required to wear a mask during their visit to the museum (unless while eating or drinking in the rooftop cafe) to help us keep our staff and other visitors safe. We thank you in advance for your support and understanding.

Additionally, MCA Denver requires proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 for all visitors attending any program or special event

We want to keep everyone safe and stay open while doing it. These measures are not just the right thing to do but they will also help ensure that we get to keep doing what we do best: delighting you with world-class exhibitions, quirky programming, enlightening artist talks, and epic parties.

This policy is based on guidance and recommendations issued by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other public health authorities.

Visitors who are unable to adhere to this policy should contact programs@mcadenver.org to discuss their options, which include a refund or donation of tickets back to the museum.

FAQs

Why are you requiring that masks be worn by museum visitors?

MCA Denver is deeply committed to the health and safety of our visitors and staff. Face coverings are one way to protect everyone from transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Doing our part to slow or prevent the spread of COVID-19 is also how we can help ensure that the museum stays open.

Do I need proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to visit the museum?

You do not need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test for general museum admission but we do require that you wear a mask at all times, unless you are eating or drinking in the cafe.

Why are you requiring proof of vaccination for programs?

Since programs and special events are most often held indoors for a sustained amount of time and include enjoyment of food and/or beverages, this is the best way for us to help keep visitors, staff, and performers/speakers safe. It’s not just the right thing to do but we also want to ensure that we get to keep doing what we do best: delighting you with world-class exhibitions, quirky programming, enlightening artist talks, and epic parties.

How do I show proof of vaccination to attend an event or program?

A program or event attendee vaccinated against COVID-19 by a two-dose mRNA vaccine (such as Moderna and Pfizer), or a single dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson), is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the final dose of vaccine (the second dose for a two-dose regimen, or the single dose for a single-dose regimen). Documentation of vaccination status must be shown with valid I.D. upon entry to the program or special event that you plan to attend.

For fully vaccinated visitors, the following will be acceptable to prove full vaccination,

along with a matching photo ID:

  • Vaccination card (which includes your name, the type of vaccine you received and the date a last dose administered)

OR

  • A photo of your vaccine card, whether it is on a sheet of paper, your phone or electronic device

OR

  • Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider electronic health record or state Immunization Information System record

OR

  • The myColorado or Clear apps

Self-reported vaccination records that are not verified by a health care provider cannot be accepted. If you are unable to locate your vaccine card, click here.

What if I am not vaccinated? Can I still attend an event or program?

Program or event attendees who are unable or who are not fully vaccinated must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR) within 72 hours or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 24 hours prior to attending a program or special event.

The following are acceptable as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, along with a matching photo ID:

  • Printed document (from the test provider or laboratory)

OR

  • An official email or text message displayed on a phone or electronic device from the test provider or laboratory.

The information provided should include name of person tested, type of test performed, and date of negative test result (for PCR test, date of negative result must be within prior 72 hours; for antigen test, date of negative result must be within prior 24 hours). Self-reported negative test results that are not from a test provider, a laboratory, or a health care provider cannot be accepted.

I plan to host a rental event at the museum. Are there any requirements?

We will work with the hosts of any private event to ensure the safety standards implemented meet the requirements of the host.

Can I bring an unvaccinated child under 12 years old with me to a ticketed program or event?

Yes, children over two years of age must have a negative COVID-19 test or provide proof of vaccination and must wear a mask at all times unless eating or drinking.

I am a regular visitor of MCA Denver because I work with members of the staff on special deliveries or projects. Do I need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test result if I visit several days a week or several times a month?

Vendors, suppliers, contractors, artists, and other business visitors will be required to wear a mask while in the building.  Those that are working at a ticketed event will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival.

Can I wear a face shield instead of a mask?

You are welcome to wear a face shield but it must be worn in addition to a mask that covers your nose and mouth.
