Scholars, photographers, and friends of artist Francesca Woodman come together to discuss her enigmatic work, her singular and rigorous approach to photography, and her legacy.

First, Drew Sawyer, Phillip Leonian and Edith Rosenbaum Leonian Curator of Photography at Brooklyn Museum, and Jessica McDonald, Nancy Inman and Marlene Nathan Meyerson Curator of Photography at the Harry Ransom Center, will discuss Francesca Woodman's work within the context of photography in the late 20th century. Then, Sloan Rankin and Peter Kagan, friends and classmates of Woodman's from the Rhode Island School of Design, will share personal stories from their time together. The first half of the program will be moderated by MCA Denver Director and exhibition curator Nora Burnett Abrams. The second half will be moderated by George Lange, photographer and close friend of Woodman's.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is limited. The garage directly across 15th Street is $7 on weekends. The museum is walking distance from Union Station and the 16th Street Free Mall Ride.

What if I'm really really thirsty before or during the event?

The third floor cafe will be open all day, and you are welcome to grab a drink before the talk or during intermission and bring it down to the Whole Room.

Can I check out the galleries after the talk?

Yes! The galleries will be open until 5pm when the museum closes. In addition, you can bring your panel discussion ticket back for free admission to the museum within a month after the talk.
