Who owns a tattoo design? And who should be allowed to get that design?

Inspired by the exhibition Tattoo This featuring the work of tattooist and visual artist Amanda Wachob, we're having a conversation about authorship and cultural appropriation in tattooing and body art moderated by tattoo artist Thu Vo Le of Sol Tribe Tattoo.

Kitchen Table brings together artists, activists, and scholars for conversations over dinner using the current exhibitions as a starting point for discussion. Reservations are required, and seating is extremely limited. Each pop-up dinner features a different host and a different theme. Tickets include admission to the museum, dinner, and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer, wine, and cocktails are available for purchase. The dinner menu is presented by Two Sistah's Eats & Treats. Vegetarian meals are available upon request. Due to the intimate nature of the event, we are unable to accommodate other dietary restrictions.

Thu Vo Le was born in Vietnam and raised in America. He started tattooing in 2006 and co-owned a tattoo studio for four years in Nashville. Three years ago he left his hometown to explore tattooing and all that entails. He currently tattoos at Sol Tribe Tattoo on Broadway.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is limited. The garage directly across 15th Street is $5 after 4PM. The museum is walking distance from Union Station and the 16th Street Free Mall Ride. Please don't drive if you plan on drinking.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Vegetarian meals are available upon request. Due to the nature of the event, we are unable to accommodate other dietary restrictions.

When should I arrive at the museum?

We strongly recommend arriving between 6PM and 7PM to get a chance to view the exhibitions, in particular, Amanda Wachob: Tattoo This.

Can I view the exhibitions?

Your Kitchen Table ticket includes museum admission, and you're welcome to walk through all the exhibitions before heading to the cafe for the conversation at 7PM. Please note that the galleries will close once the talk begins at 7PM.

Will alcoholic beverages be served?

Beer, wine, and cocktails will be availble for purchase at the cafe bar.
