Mixed Taste: Still At Home– 100 Year Starship & Cattle Breeding
The off-beat series you’ve loved in person for nearly 18 years can still be enjoyed without having to put pants on. That’s right — Mixed Taste is back for a winter edition! And it's still virtual because we're still at home.
Two speakers get 20 minutes each to enlighten you on unrelated topics, selected by a guest curator for the first time: Mixed Taste fan-favorite lecturer Adrian Miller. After the speaking portion, ideas start to blend when audience members ask questions and anything goes. On March 3, join us for 100 Year Starship & Cattle Breeding featuring Alires Almon & Mark Enns.
This is our second edition of Mixed Taste presented virtually, so you can tune in from any device anywhere in the world. Mixed Taste: Still At Home will only be a three-part series, so don't miss out on this wildly popular program.
Each evening will conclude with an original poem inspired by the topics performed by some of Denver’s best poets.

Mark Enns grew up working on the family’s 4th generation wheat and cattle operation in northwest Oklahoma. Those early experiences stimulated his interest in livestock and agriculture and led him to undergraduate degrees from Tabor College, and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Colorado State University. After completing his education, he worked two years in New Zealand as a visiting scientist for Landcorp Farming Ltd. At Landcorp, he developed genetic improvement programs for beef cattle, deer, sheep, and goats suited to that grass production system. After his time in New Zealand, he spent 4 years at the University of Arizona and then joined the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University in 2001. At CSU he teaches graduate and undergraduate students and has an active research program focused on genetic evaluation and improvement of livestock using pedigree, performance and DNA marker information. The goal of his research program is to enable breeders to make more accurate selection decisions that result in animals more adapted to their production system. Mark is passionate about animals, agriculture, and genetic improvement of livestock. He enjoys camping, flyfishing and just about anything in the outdoors. His wife is also faculty at CSU and together with their children they raise beef cattle, pigs, and chickens on their small farm. Web theseekrproject.com
