As part of the exhibition Nari Ward: We the People, you can participate in Naturalization Drawing Table. This work is a simulated bureaucratic environment where you can complete a modified version of an Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) citizenship application, present an officially issued form of identification, and have your photograph taken; the photo is then attached and the form notarized by a notary that will be present during the activation times. The imitation documents join an ever-growing collection of completed applications, with a selection of them exhibited on the wall behind the desk. In return, participants receive a limited set of prints based on Ward’s drawings.

Please note that this is an artwork activation and is in no way an official naturalization ceremony. Participation is open to anyone, whether or not they are a US citizen. Participants will need to bring an officially issued form of identification, a copy of which will be included in the work.

A special reservation is needed to participate in the activation for Nari Ward’s Naturalization Drawing Table. The tickets available on this page include general museum admission and a reservation for Naturalization Drawing Table.

Naturalization Drawing Table will be activated every Friday at 3PM and 4PM, as well as Saturday, August 1 from 12–2PM and Saturday, September 5 from 12–2PM. There are five reservation spots available every hour the work is activated. Tickets are available two weeks out.
