On Thursday, December 14th, curator Patrick Charpenel is joined by exhibiting artist Eduardo Sarabia to discuss the exhibition Saber Acomodar.  The two will talk about the culture of Guadalajara, Jalisco, and how the city’s unique relationship with artisans in the region allows contemporary artists a freedom to create using ateliers as partners in production.

Patrick Charpenel is a scholar, curator, and collector who has developed exhibitions both within Mexico and throughout the world. He serves on the Board of the Centre Pompidou- Latin America, Paris, France. He was recently appointed the Director of Museo del Barrio in New York City.

Eduardo Sarabia is a Guadalajara-based artist who works with ceramic tiles and hand-woven textiles to create installations that address the social and cultural exchanges common throughout Mexico. His work has been widely exhibited at museums around the world. He serves on the board of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver

Saber Acomodar: Art and Workshops of Jalisco, Mexico 1915–NOW
The studios and artisanal workshops in the state of Jalisco, Mexico have been a source of visual inspiration and technical instruction for artists for more than 100 years. This exhibition features work made in the region that blends traditional practices with contemporary ideas.

Saber Acomodar is the part of the Biennial of the Americas, and has been organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Arizona State University Art Museum.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is limited. The garage directly across 15th street is $5 after 4pm. Please don't drive if you plan on drinking. 

What if I'm really really thirsty before the event?

We have happy hour up in the cafe from 5–7PM so we recommend you grab a drink upstairs before the talk. And good news, if you don't quite finish your cocktail in time, you can bring it with you downstairs during the talk.
