Call 720-845-5413 extension 22 to hear this dream.

You walk into the Rossonian. It is winter inside. A thick layer of snow covers the floor & furniture. Young folks walk by you, carrying instrument cases toward an interior you can’t see, but from which bebop music rings out, along with the sounds of a happy crowd. Each musician steps precisely into the footprint of the musician walking ahead of them, so that, even though there is an endless line of the musicians walking into the interior of the building, they only leave one trail of footprints in the snow. Snow falls from above in clumped flakes as wide as dinner plates. A wide clump of snow drifts down & lands on your head, balancing there like a hat. This is my hat now, you think. You step out of the building & back onto the street. It is summer outside & warm. The clump of snow on your head does not melt. You walk very carefully to keep the snow hat from tipping & falling off. You walk over to a pinball machine that sits on the sidewalk. The pinball machine has a very wide coin-slot. You angle your head to the slot & slip the clump of snow from atop your head into coin slot. The snow clump rolls into the slot & disappears. For a moment, nothing happens. Then the pinball machine dings & flashes & chimes into life, silver pinballs shoot out of it, dozens of them, hitting every target, bouncing off of every surface, ringing every bell with a joyful cacophony. Your score grows higher & higher, passing the previous high score easily, the score rising exponentially, the numbers slipping into a glowing blur. The pinballs bounce off each other inside the machine with a rattling clacking. Finally the score is so high that there is not enough space on the pinball machine’s display for the number & the machine explodes open, blowing billowing snow all over the street, covering the streets & sidewalks with snow, filling the air like the densest blizzard.
