Call 720-845-5413 extension 31 to hear this dream.

A couple dozen other American cities have all been moved into Denver, the complete cities wedged into, rather than added on to, this city. All their peoples & buildings & shops & buses & landscapes & histories have been folded into the spaces between things here in Denver, so that on one block you might have seven city blocks & on one location you might have a half-dozen doctors offices & check-cashing shops & empty lots & statues of huge cows. But this hill here rises too high for the other cities & so it remains entirely, solely Denver. The neighborhoods below you & their houses & warehouses & the downtown buildings in the distance are all packed in with other cities like Hattiesburg, Mississippi & Indianapolis & El Paso & Bellingham & the Indianapolitans do their Indianapolis things alongside Hattiesburgers & El Pasoans, & Bellinghammers, &, of course, the Denverites. Each remains in their own city, all folded in beside each other, each able to see the other citizens & other cities, able to nod or wave, but each remaining separated. You hear a buzzing & look up to the red radio tower. This tower instead of beaming out voices & songs & ideas & advertisements & station IDs, like a normal radio tower, absorbs all the small sounds people make when no one is listening to them, all the little -assurances & complaints & prayers & nonsense & secrets people mutter to themselves when alone, this tower absorbs them all from all of the people of Denver. And as more & more mutterings coalesce, the combined mutterings form new rungs & bars of the tower, raising the red radio tower higher into the sky. You walk up the hill to the radio tower. You put a hand to a rung. It is neither hot nor cold. You climb up the first few rungs, & as you do, you have an even better view of the surrounding valley & the mountains to the west, the higher you climbs, the easier you find the climbing to be, until high in the air you merely hold onto the metal rungs with your hands as your body rises.
