writing memoir as a letter to the future

all of which is to say:

keep coming.

you can do this.

we have done this before.

what a spectacular blood

glittering a dance fearless

what an inheritance in these hips

and they may kill me before I am through

but I am so alive so alive

this whole body hums

and ain’t that some kind of map

ain’t we time traveling

holy and eternal

I am glad to be Black

and woman

and I say glitter, oh spirit,

glitter and go off

I see you showing now

dear, sweet, dust

my feet and my future

a reclamation

a redemption

so powerful

I become myself again.
