Laugh Your Craft Off is a series of craft workshops where you can make things with artists while comedians tell jokes. We’ve paired artists and crafters with comedians to take your grandma’s craft circle to a whole new level. There will be laughs! There will be crafts! So grab yourself a drink and come hangout with us!
In celebration of Hinamatsuri, also known as “Girl’s Day” or “Doll’s Day, ” craft your own personal kokeshi doll display. Hinamatsuri takes place on March 3 in Japan and is one of five seasonal festivities. On this holiday, families honor their young daughters by praying for their health, good fortune, and prosperity.
About The Crafter: Stacey Shigaya (she/her)
As Executive Director for Sakura Foundation, Stacey is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of programming and events to fulfill its mission to celebrate and share Japanese/Japanese American heritage and culture in order to create a more compassionate, resilient, and equitable society. She is a proud third generation Japanese American who was born and raised in Denver, CO.
About The Comedian: Kate McLachlan (she/her)
Kate is a comic from Durango, Colorado who moved to Denver in 2021. She is the 2018 winner of the Four Corners Next Best Comic Competition and the loser of Comedian’s Power Hour, but that’s a drinking contest so don’t feel bad for her. In addition to co-creating and hosting Dyketopia, she’s featured for Adam Cayton-Holland and other incredible comedians. She can’t wait to meet your dog.
