Two speakers. Two totally unrelated topics. One surprising night of connections. That’s Mixed Taste: Tag Team Lectures on Unrelated Topics.

Dance Marathons & the Pueblo Revolt with Kambui Olajimi & Karen Roybal

Your favorite off-beat lecture series is back at the Holiday Theater! Mixed Taste returns another summer of mismatched magic, where serious topics meet some not-so-serious fun.

Each night, two speakers take the stage with back-to-back talks on completely unrelated topics. But the real magic happens when the audience steps in for the Q&A, finding unexpected connections no one saw coming.

Hosted by the inimitable Bobby LeFebre, with new speakers, poets, and mash-ups every week, Mixed Taste is the intellectual joyride you didn’t know you needed.

Wednesday nights at the Holiday Theater. Doors at 6 PM. Program at 7 PM. Drinks, snacks, and serendipity await.

Your Mixed Taste ticket includes admission to MCA Denver anytime before August 24. Simply show your confirmation email at the front desk of the museum.

About the Speakers

Karen Roybal (the Pueblo Revolt)

Karen Roybal is an associate professor of Southwest Studies at Colorado College and an interdisciplinary scholar whose work centers on Chicanx and Latinx literature, borderlands history, and archival studies. She is the author of Archives of Dispossession and co-editor of New Transnational Chicanx Perspectives on Ana Castillo. Her research explores themes of identity, memory, and cultural inheritance across the U.S. Southwest and beyond.

Kambui Olajimi (Dance Marathons)

Kambui Olujimi is a multidisciplinary artist from Brooklyn whose work explores themes of erasure, memory, and the ineffable through sculpture, video, installation, and performance. His art has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at MoMA, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and Museo Reina Sofía. With a sharp sociopolitical lens and wry humor, Olujimi’s practice challenges perceived inevitabilities and unearths the illusions of collective consciousness.
