Critical Focus: Tyler Beard presented a selection of collages by the Kansas native. Beard's work features textures, landscape, and hard angles meeting in zen simplicity and sometimes flying off into sculptural planes.
Tyler Beard was born in 1982 in Olathe, Kansas. He holds a BFA from the University of Kansas and an MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Beard has exhibited his work at the Central Utah Arts Center; Robischon Gallery, Denver; Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Aspen, Colorado; Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art; Biennial Roadshow Marfa, Texas; and the Biennial of the Americas, Colorado. He has participated in numerous artist residencies including the Montello Foundation, Nevada; Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Aspen, Colorado; Ceramic Center Berlin, Germany; and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Minnesota. Beard currently lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.
