MCA Denver is looking for high school aged creatives willing to challenge themselves with writing prompts to explore metaphoric and poetic language in combination with visual imagery. The final project will culminate with a collaborative wheat-paste mural in MCA Denver’s third floor teen gallery. This opportunity is being offered as an intensive program as a collaborative program with the local non-profit, Art From Ashes (AfA). AfA is recognized nationally for their award-winning curriculum encouraging creative transformation through the power of expression. The brainchild for this eclectic workshop stems from the combined strengths of literary and visual skill sets respectively from each organization.
The program will take place daily at MCA Denver from July 18 through July 21 from 1 PM until 4 PM.

About Arts from Ashes
Art from Ashes (AfA) is a Colorado nonprofit that encourages creative empowerment through artistic expression for struggling youth age 9 to 24. For more than 18 years, AfA’s art programs have encouraged marginalized youth to tell their stories and find creative empowerment through poetry and spoken word in our award-winning Phoenix Rising program. In 2017, AfA added the visual and tactile art program Drawing on Air.
All of AfA’s programs provide a safe, non-judgmental space with caring adults and community artists for youth to share their dreams, hopes, fears and pain, as well as the opportunity to connect with their community, and transform their stories from trauma to self-empowerment.
