Curated by Cydney Payton, Executive Director & Chief Curator

MCA Denver thanks the citizens of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.

Omer Fast’s film installation De Grote Boodschap (The Big Message) moves through a kitchen, a bedroom and a living room in apartments of a Belgian building. Fast invites the audience to glimpse into the private lives of residents through a narrative that suggests the characters’ interconnectedness. Seamless transitions in time and place explore how culture and media shape perceptions and memory. Fast raises questions about notions of truth and reality through his characters’ social interactions, attitudes, and habits.

Omer Fast was born in 1972 in Jerusalem, Israel. He holds a BA/BFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and an MFA from Hunter College of the City, University of New York, New York. His work has been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, Vienna; and Carnegie Museum, Philadelphia. Fast is the winner of the 2008 Bucksbaum Award. He lives and works in Berlin.
