Guido Ignatti

1 de julio de 2016 — 11 de septiembre de 2016
Curated by Patrick Greaney, Director of the Graduate Certificate Program in Critical Theory and Professor of Humanities and Comparative Literature Programs, University of Colorado Boulder

MCA Denver thanks the citizens of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.

Trained as a sculptor and set designer, Guido Ignatti uses simple materials to stage situations that estrange everyday urban life. By setting up environments that oscillate between the ordinary and the enigmatic, he invites reflection on art’s pleasures and pitfalls – on what art can offer and withhold.

Guido Ignatti: Set Up presented four installations that formed a trajectory through MCA Denver’s first floor galleries, beginning with an intimate series of abstract paintings, moving through an arrangement of modified plants, and concluding with a room-sized sculpture and a mural that combines poetry and political graffiti.

Guido Ignatti was born in 1981 in Buenos Aires, where he continues to live and work. Recent solo exhibitions have been held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Rosario, Argentina; Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires; and La Ira de Dios, Buenos Aires. In 2010, he co-founded and coedited the Buenos Aires-based art magazine Sauna.
