Hosted Kitchen Table dinner brings artists, activists, and scholars for conversations over dinner using Derrick Adams’s On as a starting point for discussions.

Kitchen Table Dinners are hosted periodically at the museum. Dinners are free, reservations are required and seating is extremely limited. Each pop-up dinner features a different host. The host of the dinner will choose a theme for discussion, and during the dinner, the table. Tickets include admission to the museum, dinner, and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer, wine, and cocktails are available for purchase. The event begins with a tour of the exhibition and continues with dinner in the gallery.

Bio: Derrick Adams was born in 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His multi-disciplinary practice includes performance, video, sound, collage, and sculpture. A recipient of a 2009 Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, and 2014 S.J. Weiler Award, Adams received his MFA from Columbia University, BFA from Pratt Institute, and is a Skowhegan and Marie Walsh Sharpe alum. Recent exhibitions include: Greater New York ​’05, MoMA PS1; Open House: Working In Brooklyn ​’04, Brooklyn Museum of Art; PERFORMA ​‘05, ​‘13, ​‘15; Radical Presence & The Shadows Took Shape, Studio Museum in Harlem; and The Channel, Brooklyn Academy of Music. His work is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Studio Museum in Harlem, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the Birmingham Museum of Art.

Two Sistah’s Catering is sisters Deborah Shead and Rená Shead, who serve up some of the same favorite dishes once found in Denver’s famous M&D’s Café.

What are my transportation/​parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is limited. The garage directly across 15^th street is $5 after 4PM. 

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Vegetarian meals are available upon request. Due to the intimate nature of the event, we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions.
