Musician FelixFast4ward

What is the origin story behind FelixFast4ward?

FelixFast4ward began as scratch dj, then upon enjoying the enlightenment of vinyl records, evolved into a musician using traditional instruments.

How long have you been performing in Denver? What is your favorite thing about the Denver music scene?

I’ve been performing around the U.S. and Denver since the early 2000s. I deeply love how welcoming the Denver audience is to unique styles of performance.

Where do you find inspiration for your music?

Many of the musicians in Denver are really “tapped in” and are also very innovative. They inspire me to reach for fresh ideas.

Who are some artists/creators that are influential to your musical practice?

Oh God, too many to name. I'll say Bjork, Ray Charles and Nina Simone have had the biggest impact on me musically.

Music can be an immersive experience. How would you describe your sound as a texture, a scent, or a taste?

My music smells like it just rained on the forest floor and feels like a rainbow tapestry hugging you!

What should we expect from your performance?

Some forest floor rain and some flute!

What are you excited about for this year?

I get to travel and share my music with sOOoo many more people!

ManyColors

ManyColors is a four-piece band that opens up new musical space by using a hip-hop format to explore chords and motifs usually reserved for jazz.

The band ManyColors

What is the origin story of ManyColors?

The band was formed during a session in 2018. I hired everyone to play on some of my original stuff and we all loved it so much that we just kept going.

How long have you been performing in Denver? What is your favorite thing about the Denver music scene?

We’ve been performing in Denver since 2018. We spent about a year playing exclusively at Appaloosa, exploring our own tunes/tones.

Where do you find inspiration for your music?

For this group, a lot of inspiration came from J Dilla and Robert Glasper.

Who are some artists/creators that are influential to your musical practice?

Between everyone in the band, we listen to and take inspiration from everything: jazz, country, hip hop, rock, etc. It’s all there in one form or another.

Music can be an immersive experience. How would you describe your sound as a texture, a scent, or a taste?

Texture: Smooth

Scent: Sweet

Taste: Delicious

What should we expect from your performance?

A lot of times we don’t make set lists and just go with the flow of the music. So you will have to show up to find out!

What are you excited about for this year?

More recording sessions and more gigs!
