|School Tour-Art Fitness Training
MCA Denver has created a unique, interactive school tour for K-5 students which focuses on careful looking. The Art Fitness Training tour addresses the goals of the 21st century Skills and Readiness Competencies: critical thinking and reasoning, information literacy, collaboration, self-direction, and invention. The tour is designed to support and reinforce classroom curriculum and addresses skills and competencies students need to be successful in the 21st century workforce.
For the tour, a trained Gallery Coach guides students in Art Fitness Training where students explore contemporary art through a series of "workouts": Warm-up hands-on activity, two reps of Art Fitness Training, and a cool-down reflection session. Students will gain and deepen their understanding of contemporary art while having fun along the way.
Tour is adaptable to other grade levels.
K–5 school groups are invited to book guided tour anytime from 9AM–NOON, Tuesday–Friday, before the museum opens to the public. To ensure against overcrowding, we require reservations for all school groups–both guided and self-guided tours. We require at least two weeks advance notice for all tour requests.
School groups are welcome to tour the museum from Tuesday–Friday, Noon–5PM.
Guided tours last one hour.
Tours are available for a minimum of 10 students and maximum of 30 per tour. Please provide one adult chaperone for every 10 students. We ask that chaperones remain with students at all times while in the museum.
Admission for K–5 guided tours is $125 (for 30 students).
Teachers and adult chaperones are FREE.
Scholarships are available for qualifying Title 1 public schools.
Tour cancellation must be made 24 hours in advance of scheduled visits by calling 720 236 1820.
