Matt Barton: I Think I Feel Something

Matt barton: I think i feel something

july 25–october 5, 2014

Matt Barton: I Think I Feel Something features multiple dwellings, audio and video experiences, and numerous found and made objects that draw upon new age practices. Elements of his preposterous environment include color and crystal therapy and pineal gland activation stations, a water feature, and a communal structure for stimulating the chakras. Half adult playground, half spiritual retreat center, Barton captures the pleasure of exploring novel spaces and unfamiliar subcultures.

Matt Barton was born in 1975 in Evansville, Indiana. He lives and works in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Barton received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Montana State University and a Master’s in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University. His work has been exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY; the Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh; the Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh; the Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Fe; and the Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh. Currently Matt is the Co-Director of Visual Art at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs
