What is Failure Lab?

Failure Lab is a yearlong internship that gives high school interns the opportunity to learn through failure, play, experimentation, and art creation. The fall semester is dedicated to working alongside an artist in the Denver metro area to produce an exhibition of work inspired by the guest artist’s compositional knowledge and the teens’ collective vision. The spring semester revolves around planning, developing, and curating a teen art exhibition curated by the teens as they learn from museum staff in various departments.

Failure Lab is a school-year long program that meets in-person every Wednesday from 4:30-6:30PM. Applications open May through June for the following school year. Interns in Failure Lab earn up to $300/semester for their participation.

Failure Lab Call for Artwork Open Now Through April 2!

Failure Lab seeks artwork that answers what it is like to be a student right now. The goal is to share the personal experiences of high school students today.

The exhibition will be on view on the third floor of MCA Denver from April 24 through May 26, 2024. Must be a statewide (CO) high school student to apply.
